सनातन धर्मः कः? | What is Sanatana Dharma?

The quintessential truth of Sanatana Dharma is that it encourages the seeker to ask critical questions. It is a tradition of profound internal inquiry, guiding individuals to seek within and discover truths for themselves. Rather than driving anyone toward blind dogma or rigid religion, Sanatana Dharma serves as an expansive framework for understanding existence. It is, fundamentally, a timeless way of life.

Sanskrit is one of the oldest languages in the world. As of today, the native speakers of the language are very low and to encourage anyone that might not be familiar with the language, we will add small phrases with translated meanings. Let's offer our prayers to protect the expressive and beautiful language like the art forms of Dance (Bharatanatyam, kuchipudi etc) and Music of Sanatana Dharma.

सनातन धर्मः (Sanatana Dharma) is historically carried forward by seers, philosophers, seekers and anyone who seeks answers to questions in life. सनातन धर्मः (Sanatana Dharma) has a massive ecosystem of knowledge encompassing the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, and Itihasas, alongside profound systems of music, literature, art, astronomy, politics, law and other topics. It functioned as an entire intellectual local and thriving ecosystems—as seen in the historic Matha systems and ancient universities like Takshashila and Nalanda. गुरु-शिष्यः परंपरम् | The Guru-Shishya Parampara

The spiritual heritage of Sanatana Dharmic systems are often taught by a ॠशिः or a गुरु (guru means teacher) under whose tutelage a शिष्यः (shisya means disciple) learns them. This immense knowledge ecosystem is kept alive through the गुरु-शिष्यः Guru-Shishya (teacher-disciple) tradition. A great example which is even followed today is Music; be it Hindustani or Carnatic(see Carnatic Trinity, Hindustani Gharana), An artist's distinctive style and mastery directly reflect the lineage of their गुरु. Remember, In ancient Sanatana Dharmic culture, this line of thinking, emphasizes a lot of values in itself, which is derived because of this tradition and are applicable in the modern world in many contexts.

  • Pursuit of Excellence Teachers or Gurus yearn to learn more through memory or scriptures or stories or thinking like what will a great rishi or guru do in this situation;
  • Sharing Knowledge Knowledge is key and is shared to all - some student/s or shisya's were extraordinary and became their teacher's teacher (guru's guru). We will go over such cases.

    In Modern times, we do not have gurus that might be available and knows answers at our disposal at all times, The focus of this site is to create a repository using knowledge shared by our ancestors, rishis, research some of the topics using texts and AI/LLM, provide explanations, remove any misinformation that may be present and also to provide to everyone and youth — direct access to their roots that was shared by our ancient ऋषयः (Rishis).
